We are experiencing an era of translation, shifting from a fossil based economy towards a sustainable bioeconomy. As a crucial prerequisite, novel bioprocesses need to perform optimally in large-scale to compete with established chemical infrastructures. However, microbial bioprocesses often show deteriorated production performance in large-scale because cells experience non-optimal surroundings.
Based on the profound knowhow at IBVT, a new generation of microbial hosts shall be engineered that shows explicit robustness for industrial conditions. Being embedded in national and international projects with multiple partners from universities and from industry, dedicated microbial strain engineering research will be performed for the targeted improvement of industrial hosts.
Applicants should show a pro-active attitude. You are profoundly trained for applying synthetic/molecular biology tools for strain engineering of prokaryotes. Furthermore, you are interested in testing your strains in fermentations. You have gained a Master or a doctoral degree in Biotechnology, Technical Biology, Synthetic Biology or similar with excellent marks.
Open positions are scheduled for 3 years and should be filled by September 2025. Positions are quoted with E13 (PostDoc) and 2/3 E13 for PhD candidates.
