Subject

My key research interest is to understand metabolism and regulation of microbial and mammalian cells in depth, thereby enabling model-based strain and process engineering finally to transfer novel bioprocesses from lab to industrial scale. As such, research activities are rooted in modern biochemical engineering closely following the mindset of systems metabolic engineering and also using tools of synthetic biology.

Member of educational programs at University of Stuttgart: Technical Biology, (Bio-) Chemical Engineering, Technical Kybernetics, Environmental Engineering:

  • Biochemical Engineering (6 ECTS, undergraduate course), summer and winter term
  • Metabolic engineering (3 ECTS, graduate course), winter term
  • Bioreaction engineering (3 ECTS graduate course), summer term
  • Downstream processing (3 ECTS graduate course), winter term
  • Multiple Practical Courses for undergraduates and graduates
